Christina A Mettert, M.A., LMFT

I started down the path of introspection and internal, emotional integration when I was 19 years old. Having been raised in a family that was toxic, I was inspired at a young age to break the cycles that tormented my relationships and me. At 22 years old, I left music school and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, which is where my process of purification and healing took root.

Until that point, I dwelled in the land of mind and felt that the concepts and principles that were so apparent to me were my salvation. While in NM, I was dropped into the world and language of the body through various experiences and became aware that cultivation of the mind was just the first step. I became fascinated by the somatics of the body and the language that it used to communicate and speak to me via body sensations.

It is from a place of deep honoring, self-awareness and inner strength that I approach my work. I am adept at assisting people with removing the barriers that they can’t seem to overcome that continue to plague them through sustained themes and uncomfortable emotional states. I use various orientations and tools to assist people to descend into areas within that are uncomfortable, so that they can move through and clear what is halting them.

My vision for people is that they find freedom from the inside out, and use that freedom to identify and connect with their passion(s). From that place of passion, they can learn to create the life they were truly meant to live! Once a person can grasp that we each have a Positive Mind, Negative Mind, and a Neutral Mind (Meditative Mine), and how each one works, then he or she is better able to master the relationship between them all and navigate them for optimal results. In order to strengthen the Neutral Mind, a person needs specific exercises and practices so that he or she can begin creating those pathways in the brain, which strengthen over time with practice and repetition.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been in the mental health field for over 23 years. I have experience working with many different situations, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, marital and partner conflicts, existential conflicts, abuse survivors, GBLT issues, and anger management issues. I am also a Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher.

One of my specialities is to assist individuals with removing blocks in their life that were created from past hurts and/or traumas. Through a process called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), I can facilitate the client to digest frozen traumatic memories and remove the physical symptoms associated with it.  I also weave Mindfulness into working with patients in order to teach them how to better manage their body/mind connection and find practical ways to master this connection. I also incorporate Alchemical Hypnotherapy into my EMDR sessions in order to provide Ego State work, i.e., inner child healing, emotional clearing work, etc.

As I referenced above, I recently became certified in Kundalini Yoga. As a certified yoga teacher, I am now able to provide specific meditations, and breath techniques, and provide innovative ways to learn how to cultivate presence or the Neutral Mind as discussed above. Being able to add these new interventions into my practice will enhance the treatment plan of each individual I work with and allow me to tailer the interventions that will bring him or her the most potent results.
